What we know from public sources.

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is the Pattaya-area branch of the Bangkok Hospital Group — one of the largest private hospital networks in Thailand. The Naklua campus on Sukhumvit Km. 143 is the easiest "first call" facility for most non-Thai-speaking patients in the city because of its International Services desk, English-fluent admin staff, and broad direct-billing arrangements with overseas insurers.

The facility advertises a wide range of departments and centres of excellence. Without endorsing any particular service, published centres include cardiology, brain and neuroscience, orthopaedics, oncology, diabetes and endocrine care, general and plastic surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, emergency and trauma, a Dental Center, and an Eye Center with LASIK and refractive surgery capability (often co-branded Sea Sight Vision Center in facility marketing). Online appointment booking and health packages are published at bangkokhospital.com/en/pattaya.

Site note: bangkokpattayahospital.com timed out at verification on 31 May 2026; facts on this page cross-check against bangkokhospital.com/en/pattaya and prior verified hospital materials.

JCI accreditation does not certify the medical quality of any specific clinician or treatment. It is a quality-of-systems standard — covering things like infection control, patient identification, medication safety, and incident reporting. For most insurance-funded medical tourists, it is the baseline accreditation they expect their hospital to hold.

Getting there.

BHP sits directly on Sukhumvit Road at the Km. 143 mark, in the Naklua part of Banglamung district. From Central Pattaya, it's a 15–25 minute taxi ride depending on traffic; from Pattaya International Hospital it's roughly 10–15 minutes; from Jomtien it's 25–40 minutes. The closest fixed landmarks are the Naklua market and the Wong Amat Beach area. Songthaew (baht bus) routes along Sukhumvit pass nearby, though most non-Thai patients use taxi, Grab, or Bolt.

§The facility

What Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is.

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is the largest private hospital on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard and the default reference point for foreign patients in the city. It is a tertiary referral hospital — the level that handles complex and specialist cases, not only everyday ones — operating since 1990 and now a multi-storey complex on a roughly nine-acre site, with bed capacity reported in the 300–400 range. It belongs to the nationwide Bangkok Hospital (BDMS) group, which is what gives a Pattaya patient access to the wider network’s specialists and referral pathways.

For an arriving foreigner, three things matter most about this hospital: it is JCI-accredited (alongside Thailand’s national HA accreditation and ISO certification), it runs a 24-hour emergency department, and it operates a dedicated International Services desk built specifically for non-Thai patients.

Departments and centres

The hospital publishes some two dozen specialised departments and centres. Without endorsing any particular one, the line-up a general reader is most likely to need includes cardiology, a brain and neuroscience centre, orthopaedics, oncology, a diabetes and endocrine centre, general and plastic surgery, a minimally-invasive spinal-surgery service, paediatrics, obstetrics, and emergency and trauma care. Diagnostic imaging and laboratory services are on-site, as are pharmacies, eateries and shops — the complex is designed to keep a patient’s whole visit under one roof.

International Services

The hospital states that it sees in the region of 100,000 foreign patients a year and provides interpreters across more than twenty languages. The International Services function is not only translation: it also covers liaison with health insurers, embassy contact where needed, and referral coordination. In practice this is the desk an English-, Russian-, Chinese-, Arabic-, Japanese- or German-speaking patient is routed to on arrival.

Getting there

The hospital sits in Naklua, on Sukhumvit Road around Kilometre 143, roughly 5 km north of Central Pattaya. From the central beach and Soi Buakhao areas it is a short taxi or songthaew ride north. Every facility page on this site carries a one-tap Get directions button and a copyable address; use the action bar above.

Arriving and paying

As a private hospital, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is pay-as-you-go. Outpatients settle an itemised bill at a cashier before leaving; admissions normally involve a deposit or a card pre-authorisation. If you carry international insurance, the International desk may be able to arrange direct billing with your insurer — subject to your policy and the insurer’s approval. The mechanics of paying at a Thai private hospital are covered in plain English in our Healthcare in Pattaya guide.
